Businesses are turning to IT to drive down capital expenses and operating expenses as well as ratchet up productivity and efficiency to drive a more effective, leaner business in 2009 and beyond. IT goals align with those of the business as the technology groups seek to take on network-centric applications and services. Amid the rollout of these services, however, IT is facing normal cost-cutting requirements paired with a new quest for additional savings driven by current external factors. IT needs to help save the business while remaining responsive, reliable, and agile, all using less investment than was previously available.
